Power Searching with the Pros
The next round of the very popular Power Searching with the
Pros workshops with Mary Ellen Bates and Chris Sherman at the RACV
Club Melbourne (29-30 August), Novotel Canberra (1-2
Sept) and Quay West Suites Sydney (5-6 Sept) 2005 will be
co-hosted by ALIA (Australian Library and Information Association)
and Web Search Pacific.
For those who have already attended Web Search Pacific workshops,
the new series will include a totally new advanced workshop
we have labelled Level 2.
LEVEL 1 will again focus on the main concepts information
professionals need to know:
- Search Engine Mechanics
- Power Searching with Google
- Misinformation on the Web
- Search engines that don't start with G
- Getting to the A-Ha moment - inside the brain of a powersearcher,
- and a new concept "Power Searchers Clinic" - Q &
A- answering questions provided in advance.
LEVEL 2 the new advanced workshop for information
professionals who have attended previous Web Search Pacific workshops
will focus on:
- The Invisible Web - what has changed, what is new
- Advanced People Research - profiling executives and other
professionals
- Hidden Search Engine gems- Y!Q, Google Scholar and other buried
stuff
- Web Nasties - coping with Phishing, Pharming and Spyware
- Advanced Blogs, RSS and Newsfeeds - creating your own RSS,
Web clipping tools, and Power Research Tools
- Power Searchers Clinic - Q & A - answering questions provided
in advance.
Please note:
- These are not hands on sessions because we want to keep them
fast paced and packed with information.
- The workbooks are comprehensive and delegates can review the
websites discussed at their leisure later with passwords that
will take them into a special section of www.websearchpacific.com
The ALIA members rate is $395 inc GST per day. The non-members
rate is $455 inc GST per day. The ALIA members rate is also offered
to members of the Australian Computer Society, Australian School
Library Association, Australian Society of Archivists, LIANZA,
and the Records Management Association of Australasia.
